Takradhara Therapy
Takradhara is also known as Buttermilk Shirodhara, an ancient ayurvedic therapy. Fermented medicated buttermilk is poured over the head and scalp. It provides a cooling effect on the scalp tissues. It not only balances excess heat in the body but also relaxes your mind and helps to balance Pitta doha.
At Ayura Ayurvedic Clinic, we offer authentic Takradhara therapy with various ayurvedic therapies that assist you in your development path.

How Takradhara Therapy is Performed:
Consultation: Therapists analyze patients’ medical history, current health concerns, and body type. It helps to select the right herbs tailored to your needs, and they will be mixed with buttermilk.
Preparation of Takra: We boil buttermilk with selected herbal decoction and strain the liquid for smooth pouring.
Patient’s position: Patient lies on the comfortable massage table. The head is slightly tilted back, and cushions or sheets are placed for comfort and hygiene.
Takradhara Application: Buttermilk poured on the head and scalp in continuous rhythmic flow. Height and speed of liquid flow are customized and tailored to the patient’s issue.
Duration and monitoring: The Takradhara session usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. Therapists continuously monitor the liquid flow and temperature.
Stream closure: Therapists gradually stop the flow of takra liquid and eventually stop the stream. Remove excess takra using cotton pads.
After-care: A mild scalp oil or herbal tonic is applied, and a head massage is given. The patient is asked to avoid cold showers and air conditioner exposure for 24 hours.
